Reactive Airways Dysfunctions Syndrome
Reactive airways dysfunctions syndrome is simply irritant-induced asthma. Per the medical settlement, to prove you suffer from this chronic condition, you must show the following:
- Positive methacholine challenge test finding, or equivalent test, which signifies hyperactive airways;
- Absence of pre-existing respiratory disease or asthma; and
- The exclusion of other causes of symptoms
Exposure to oil or dispersants that caused reactive airways dysfunctions syndrome must have occurred by inhalation, and the timeframe between exposure and manifestation of the condition must have begun or started to begin within 24 hours of exposure.
