Seafood Compensation Program
The Seafood Compensation Program was a separate fund with its own framework set up under the umbrella Economic and Property Damages Settlement. $2.3 billion in funds were set aside specifically to compensate for the losses experienced by various types of people working in the seafood industry and primarily located in the Gulf Coast areas, such as oyster leaseholders, seafood vessel owners, commercial fisherman, seafood crew members. This separate section of the settlement agreement had its own framework of five different methods to pursue claims. However, the deadline to file a claim under this program was January 22, 2013.
